How the minutes count

Minutes are whole and round up. A call is billed the moment it connects, so a call under a minute costs 1 minute, and a call of 61 seconds costs 2.
The first minute, 10 credits, is charged the instant the caller connects, before anyone speaks.

A call nobody answers costs nothing. Billing starts at connect, not at dial.

If you do not have 10 credits, a new call will not start. The caller is asked to try again, and no alert appears in your dashboard, so watch your usage.

A blank field does not let the agent invent a greeting, despite what the card hint suggests. Instead the agent speaks a fixed line using your operator name, along the lines of \"Hi, I am Noor. How can I help you?\" A field of only spaces counts as blank and does the same.

There is no language dropdown on the Voice page. The spoken language and the accent both come from the operator you pick, and nothing else on the page changes them.

The operator carries the language

Each operator is tied to one language, Arabic or English, and one accent within it.
Picking an operator sets that language and accent for every call. There is no separate language field to fill.
Voice supports Arabic and English end to end. Your app may list many languages elsewhere, but voice speaks these two.

Accent is a style, not a promise

The operators labelled by dialect, such as Egyptian, Saudi or Levantine, are styled to sound like that dialect. The wording guides how the agent speaks; treat it as a strong lean toward that accent rather than a guarantee of every phrase.

When a caller speaks another language

Most operators answer in their own language whatever the caller speaks. An Arabic caller who reaches an English operator is answered in English, by design.
The two operators marked International are the exception. They follow the caller and switch to match.
If you expect callers in both Arabic and English, pick an International operator, or point each language at its own number with the matching operator.

The voice agent is your AI agent answering a real spoken call. It uses the same knowledge and tools as your chat agent, talks back in real time, and saves the whole conversation to your inbox.

Where calls come from

A call reaches the agent in one of two ways:

A phone number you connect. Callers dial your number and the agent picks up. See Connect a Twilio number to your AI agent.
The call button on your web chat widget. Visitors start a voice call from the widget without dialling anything. See Let visitors call your AI from the chat widget.

There is no outbound calling. The agent answers calls that come to it; it does not dial customers.

What you set up before it can answer

A Customer Service app. Voice lives only on this app type.
An Operator, the voice and accent the agent speaks with. Picking one is not optional: with none chosen the call still connects but the agent introduces itself as \"AI assistant\" in a default voice.
Message credits. A call needs at least 10 credits to start, and each minute costs 10. See What counts as a message credit in Mando.
A connected phone number, for phone calls only. Web calls need no number.

What a call leaves behind

The conversation lands in your inbox as a normal thread, with each spoken turn saved as a message.
A live call is pinned to the top of the inbox so an agent can join it.
Transcripts are always saved. Calls are not recorded as audio.
A voice call thread is read-only on text: the visitor cannot type a follow-up in it and starts a new chat instead.
