Choose the voice your AI agent speaks with

The Operator picker sets the voice, language and accent your AI agent uses on every call. Learn how to preview and pick one, and why leaving it blank backfires.

On the Voice settings page, the card that decides how your agent sounds is called Operator. Each operator is a voice with a set language and accent, and the one you pick speaks on every call.

Pick and preview an operator

  1. Open the Voice settings page and find the Operator card.

  2. The operators are shown in a table with an avatar, a "Best for" note and a language column. Use the All / Female / Male tabs to narrow the list.

  3. Press the play button on a row to hear a short sample of that voice.

  4. Click a row to select it. The row highlights and a check appears on the avatar.

  5. Save the page.

What the operator decides

Choosing an operator sets three things at once: the voice, the spoken language, and the accent or dialect. It also supplies the name the agent uses in its default opening line. You do not set the language separately anywhere else.

Do not leave it blank

A new app starts with no operator selected, and that is not a neutral state. If you never pick one, calls still connect but the agent introduces itself as "AI assistant" in a default voice, with no accent styling. Picking an operator is the step that gives your agent a real identity, so do it before you go live.
