Mando gives you two ways to automate a conversation. They look similar on the Automations page but behave very differently. This helps you pick the right one.
Simple AI Action: one job, AI-driven
A Simple AI Action runs inside a normal AI conversation. The AI itself decides when to use it, based on your plain-English description, then collects the fields you defined, in any order, while still answering other questions. It does one thing: send data, fetch an answer, or search your catalog.
Workflow: a scripted path
A Workflow scripts a fixed, step-by-step path. You lay out steps such as ask a question, present options, call your API, branch on the answer, hand off to a human, or end. The customer follows that path rather than a free AI chat. Use it when one conversation must move data through several steps.

A quick rule
Use a Simple AI Action for a single send, fetch or search that the AI slots into a normal chat. Use a Workflow when one conversation needs to receive and send data across several steps.
They also differ on plans: an action activates on Growth or higher, a workflow activates on Business.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use both?
Yes. You can have several active AI Actions and one live Workflow per app at the same time.
Which is easier to start with?
The Simple AI Action. It takes about a minute and needs no diagram.
Why is Workflow marked Beta?
It is newer. The label simply flags that it is still being refined.
