Lists are filled by hand. Here are the three ways to put people into one.
Several contacts at once
This is the fastest route and the one you will use most.
Open CRM, then Contacts.
Narrow the table with search and filters until it shows the people you want.
Tick their rows. To take everyone matching your filters rather than just the visible page, use the select all option that appears.
Select Add to list and pick the list.
Combining filters with this is the point. Filter to everyone from a given source, select them all, and drop them into a list in one action.
One contact
Open the contact, find its Lists section, select Add to list and choose one. Lists the person is already in are hidden from the menu, so you cannot add a duplicate by accident.
During a CSV import
Every import goes into a list you choose, so everyone in the file is added automatically. This is the simplest way to fill a list with a large group.
Removing people
To remove several at once, tick their rows and select Remove from list, then pick the list.
To remove one person, open their contact and remove the list from the chip shown in their Lists section.
Removing someone from a list never deletes the contact.
Checking who is in a list
Open Lists and select the list to see its members, or use the list filter above the contacts table to narrow your view to it.
Frequently asked questions
Will new contacts join automatically?
No. Lists only change when someone changes them. Use a segment if you want that.
Can someone be in several lists?
Yes, as many as you like.
Does adding to a list message anyone?
No. It is only a grouping until you send a broadcast to it.
