Create your help center

Create a help center app in Mando: pick the type, name it, choose the language it is served in, and check the plan, the limit and the role that you need.

A help center is created the same way as any other Mando app: choose the type, name it, pick its language, and confirm. It takes under a minute, but two of the choices are hard to change later.

Before you start

  • The Help Center is available on the Light plan and above. On a lower plan the option is disabled with an upgrade note.

  • Only an admin can create an app in a workspace.

  • Your plan sets how many help centers a workspace can hold. Once you are at that number, creating another is blocked until you upgrade.

Create the app

  1. Open your workspace home in the dashboard.

  2. Find the Public Surfaces section and click Create Help Center.

  3. Enter a Title. This names the app across your dashboard, and it stands in publicly as the site name until you set a header title and upload a logo. It has to be at least 3 characters.

  4. Pick the Language. This is the language your public site is served in and it sets the reading direction of the layout. Choose carefully: it is set once, at creation, and is not editable from the settings page afterwards.

  5. Add a Description if you want one. It is optional.

  6. Click Create App.

Mando opens the new help center on its Overview page, ready for content.

What to do next

  1. Create your first collection and write a few articles, then publish them.

  2. Set the title readers see at the top of the site, and upload your logo.

  3. Connect a custom domain if you have one, and add the DNS records it shows you.

  4. Switch the help center on and open the preview to check it as a reader.
